I knew I was headed to a fun wedding when I heard how these two met for the first time.
Rach and Kieran met on bonfire night during their second-year at uni. Both were in fancy dress – Rachel was a caterpillar complete with green face, green t shirt and black leggings as part of the netball club, whilst Kieran had black shorts and tights on with his body painted like a tuxedo teamed with a walking cane and a cardboard hat. You can imagine how sexy they both looked ( I have actually seen pictures of this – special!!!)
To top this off, Kierans proposal was no less special: after holidaying together they were driving to pick up their dog Lola from Rach’s parents when he decided to stop at the beach to show something to Rachel. It was a pitch black, cold February night. They walked along the beach towards a flashing light. As they got closer, Kieran put a blindfold on Rachel and walked walk her a bit further, then stopped and said to keep the blindfold on. After a couple of minutes he took the blindfold off to see the words “Marry me?” on fire in the sand. Kieran got down on one knee and asked Rachel to marry him. As she said yes fireworks went off! It turned out he had two friends (Kieran’s best man) drive the 4 hours after work on Saturday that day to stand in the cold and let fireworks off.
The wedding was in the summer at Alcumlow Wedding Barn which felt right to them as both of them wanted something relaxing, with the possibility to have an outdoor wedding ceremony and close by to their home.
I’ll forever remember this wedding as a fun, laid back party – where two people get together to have fun and celebrate. It was basically an awesome PARTY where everyone had a ball!
